Harris Tweed is a natural wool fabric and will display the authentic characteristics of handmade textiles: subtle colour variations between bolts, slight irregularities in weave, and a texture that varies across the surface. These are not defects — they are the hallmarks of genuine handwoven cloth. The fabric will soften slightly with use and wear, becoming more supple over time.

Harris Tweed contains natural lanolin from the wool fibres, giving it inherent water-resistant properties. Light rain will bead off the surface without soaking through. However, it is not fully waterproof — avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain. If the bag gets wet, allow it to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources.

Brush the tweed gently with a soft clothes brush to remove surface dust and lint. For stains, spot-clean with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild wool detergent — do not rub vigorously. Allow to air dry naturally. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, or iron directly on the tweed. The leather trim should be conditioned periodically with a natural leather conditioner to keep it supple.
